Fan Fic Festival

Performance Festival

March 14 – 17, 2019

Fan Fic Festival is a four-day performance festival that deals with the phenomenon of fanfiction.
What started as an internet craze, became one of the most comprehensive participatory writing projects of our time. But there are also formats of different length and quality that go beyond writing. Some reach millions of people, others only a handful. Fantasy universes are spun on, as well as children’s literature, porn or sequels for blockbusters.
In nine artistic positions, representatives of contemporary performance theater, usually tending to be critical of fiction, will deal with the fans and their desire for fiction. While the artistic programme examines the extent to which strategies of fanfiction production can have relevance for contemporary performance, the framework program with its many-sided acts allows protagonists from the fanfiction scene, among others, to have their say and presents scientific perspectives on the phenomenon.
