A group of men lives in the forest. They have left their families to join a self-organized community called Verein der verbundenen Väter e.V., in which they go their own way and rediscover themselves outside the threatening dynamics of the nuclear family. Now, at a time when masculinity is under ever-increasing scrutiny, the community has decided to open up to the world.
The performance-installation Wald der verlorenen Väter is PATHOS 2000’s third immersive work. The audience is encouraged to suspend their disbelief and immerse themselves in the fictional world of Wald der verlorenen Väter, through direct contact with the characters and through Barbara Lenartz’ intricate set design. For a few hours they can take part in the community’s daily life and in different workshops offered by the residents.
PATHOS 2000 are a directing duo featuring Avi Bolotinsky and Ivana Sokola. Since 2017 they have been developing immersive performances in Berlin and Hamburg with a strong reference to text and visual art. In their joint work, they explore the possibilities of space and fiction.
Running time: 4 hours
The performance is predominantly in German, but the group is happy to accommodate for English speakers
