Organismendemokratie

Club Real

Who owns the city? Who lives in public green spaces and who decides what happens there? The organism democracy that has existed since 2019 on the green space at Osloer Str. 107/108 is finding completely new answers to these questions. All living beings in this community—from snails to ash maple trees to root nodule bacteria—have the same political rights.
Since 2019, a parliament of living beings has been meeting once or twice a year to decide how to proceed with the area. Fifteen species are selected at random from the more than 400 citizen species to participate in the parliament of living beings via human representation.

Organism Democracy Berlin Osloer Straße, a project by the artist group Club Real, has existed since 2019 on the overgrown wasteland in Wedding. Organism democracy is a political system in which all living beings are citizens with equal rights and equal entitlement to political participation. In this way, the group aims to open up the possibility of enabling a shared and just life for all species through a fundamental change in politics. The first Organism Democracy was founded in Vienna in 2018. It is now represented in several locations, including Osloer Straße in Berlin-Wedding.
