»Sleight of Hand« invites audiences to experience unfamiliar objects, materials and substances through their hands. Combining audio description, tactile design, choreography and an immersive ASMR soundscape, »Sleight of Hand« explores what we might discover when we loosen our grip on the familiar visual world and let our senses wander. Jo Bannon, who was a guest at NO LIMITS in 2019 with two performances, brings a distinctive offbeat humour to her work, alongside a sustained fascination with objects, visual perception and a sense of wonder at the strangeness of the everyday world.
Presented as part of the NO LIMITS Disability & Performing Arts Festival.

ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) refers to the pleasant tingling and often relaxing sensation that some people experience at the back of the head and along the spine when stimulated by certain sensory impressions. About the artist
Jo is an artist working in performance, choreography and film. Her practice is concerned with how our specific bodies, identities and sensory perceptions impact how we experience the world around us, and how this sensory experience can or cannot be conveyed. Informed by crip politics and disability advocacy her work attempts to unpick the ways we look, hear and sense our immediate environment in order to rethink or make unfamiliar these intrinsic human behaviours. Bannon’s work is led by form and so manifests in various mediums including intimate encounters designed for single or small audiences, staged performance, dance, film and installation.
Jo has presented work in the UK, Europe, South America, USA, China, South Korea and Australia. She also works as a dramaturg, educator and writer and is part of artist collective Interval.
Recent work includes The Dirty Work (2026) Sleight of Hand (2024) Passing (2024) Feeling Thing (2021) Absent Tense (2020) Kitchen Alba (2020, We Are Fucked (2018), Alba (2015), Dead Line (2013) and Exposure (2011).
