Sportfest

    Festival

    Sportfest

Training, rehearsal, game, show, performance – the central vocabulary of sport and theater are amazingly similar. As if we always mean theater when we talk about sport – and vice versa.

Based on this proximity, the sports festival transforms the theater into a sports venue. For three weeks, people train, play, fight and perform at Ballhaus Ost: In training sessions, tournaments and competitions as well as in performances, shows, installations and talks.

The invited artistic, practical sports, and discursive works operate in the field of tension and play between the body and society. They question the inclusions and exclusions that are cultivated through sport and uncover new stories and layers to expand perspectives and views on sport and artistic practice.
