The crows are divided. Where the river Elbe flows today, a large glacier once divided the population of European crows into two evolutionary lines. That was a long time ago. The ice age is history. Nevertheless, raven crows in the west and hooded crows in the east do not really come together. Mixed breeding is rare. They prefer to nest and flock with their own kind. Still the »krah« of one sounds brighter and more metallic than the hoarse »krarr« of the other, even similar-sounding calls often have different meanings. One wears black and grey plumage while the other styles itself black. They all carefully register the differences with their heads cocked to the side and quickly dismiss what they have in common with a flutter of their wings. Nevertheless, the crows celebrate the melting of the glacier every year. On both sides of the river, they rehearse the joint ceremony. The public is invited to join in the celebrations. Camped out on green indoor meadows, they find themselves in a tension field of between hearsay, attributions and self-images. What is preventing us from breaking down the divide? What does it take to crack this tough nut? Pick-pick!

Sebastian Mauksch & team develop theatre as a space of experience for children and young people. Through the interplay of acting, dance, text, visual arts, sound and technology, they explore social issues with the audience and invite them to try out their own attitudes and actions.
