Play Pen&Paper | Questhaus Ost II: The Return of the Drags

BroKolya and Guests

3 hours | 2,5 hours
Bar stage | Theater hall

Game session
Before four Drag Royals play the classic pen-and-paper role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons at Questhaus Ost, there will be an opportunity to embark on your own adventure at the open game night: whether you are a curious beginner or an experienced role player, alone or in a group – everyone is welcome. At the beginning, there will be a short introduction to how pen-and-paper games work, then the games that have been brought along will be presented and a group will be formed for each game. This afternoon’s focus is on queer gaming worlds. If you’d like to bring a game and lead a session, please email info@ballhausost.de in advance.
Introduction Pen&Paper: 15:30–16:00
Play Pen&Paper: 16:00–19:00

Drag show
Night falls over Berlin. For the second time drag creatures gather at Ballhaus Ost to battle monsters of modern history with improv, queerness & love. Guided by the drag-king-game-master our heroes will take on a wild quest to save the world.
Last time, our drag-quings-heroes managed to defeat the bureaucracy monsters and hoist the rainbow flag on the roof of the Reichstag, lifting the curse off Berlin, but barely six months have passed before the wind picks up again, colorless trash bags soar into the air, and a new challenge looms for our beloved drag heroes. And they don’t waste any time—they glue on their beards, pull on their mesh tights, and gather up again to come face-to-face with the most dangerous villains, who are suffocating the city in a gray, corrupt fog. Join us in the fight and help show who this city belongs to!

Mustachioed drag-king BroKolya and his guestsdrag-kings, -queens and creatures invite you to join the game inpired by of Dungeons & Drag-ons! Come watch the dice roll, the wigs fly, and see how drag-performers re-invent a whole world in real time.
Drag show: 20:00–22:30.

What is Pen&Paper?
In most role-playing games, a game master guides the game: they describe scenes, describe locations, play all non-player characters, and decide how the story unfolds. The game rules provide guidance for this.
The players take on the roles of fictional characters and develop the plot. There are also role-playing games with a character sheet that provides information about skills and abilities or fun facts. Many decisions and game moments whose outcome is uncertain are determined by rolling dice. This is also specified in the respective rules.
There are countless scenarios in pen and paper games. Whether as a vampire in 1920s London, a thief in the future, with magic, without magic. Anything is possible.
The basic rules and game settings are laid down in the so-called rulebooks. How closely you adhere to these basic rules is a group decision. The rule here is: as long as everyone is having fun, anything goes.

Access / Content Note

»Play Pen&Paper« (Bar stage) is not accessible for wheelchair users.
»Questhaus Ost« (Theater hall) is accessible for wheelchair users.

Various seating options available.

Relaxed event: Audience members are free to move around, leave, or come back in as they wish. We will avoid excessively loud music and strobe lights. Since the evening is based on improvisation, we cannot know in advance what topics will be touched upon, but we will try to be sensitive to possible triggers during the game.
