WEOST

Kirsten Bremehr, Robin Plenio, Anne Pretzsch and Anne Reiter

“Two of us grew up in the East.
Two in the West.
One of us would like to see her father’s Stasi files.
One of us knows about the fall of communism from school books.
The topic is close to one of us.
One of us is worried about young people in the East.”

In Hamburg, mothers like to live in big houses, in Leipzig everyone is left-wing and sets fire to shopping carts, art is alive and well in Berlin and Chemnitz is dangerous. – That’s the way it is, isn’t it? And looking into the future, it will probably stay that way. The shift to the right is not an unpleasant twitch, but the suggestion of a dangerous journey into the past.
The artists want to counter this and free themselves from clichés: Together with nine young people from Erfurt, Berlin and Hamburg, they take an unprejudiced look at their real futures, talk about dreams, young utopias and common paths. The points of reference range from experiences to expectations.

The scenic installation »WEOST« is equipped with screens, audio, materials and movements and tells stories of upheaval, hope and unity. In a time that challenges society, »WEOST« reflects on the possibilities of encounter.
