Das kranke Haus

Theater Hora & vorschlag:hammer

As part of NO LIMITS – Disability & Performing Arts Festival 2022

Theater Hora and the collective vorschlag:hammer will jointly address the hospital complex and its media staging in »Das kranke Haus«. They will juxtapose their own experiences in hospitals with those from Grey’s Anatomy, they will re-enact an operation or a visit from Emergency Room, they will report on their everyday lives from interviews with hospital staff and they will investigate the question of what the institution of the hospital means in our society and how it has grown historically. In doing so, they will always implicitly negotiate their own bodies on stage, labeled as healthy or sick. They will identify and invert power constellations, they will exaggerate, rationalize or emotionalize. – So much for the plans of the two ensembles for their first collaboration, and this is how the press judges it: „Who actually says what is sick – and what is healthy? As gods in white, the vorschlag:hammer collective and Theater Hora question supposed certainties of the health system – and have a lot of fun in the process.“ (Valeria Heintges, nachtkritik.de)
